Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and bridges are used to restore missing teeth and to repair damaged teeth. When repaired effectively, missing and chipped teeth will not only improve any smile but will also boost self esteem to unimaginable levels.

An improper bite is usually a consequence of untreated missing teeth where speaking and chewing capabilities are affected. The gums and the teeth also do get affected by missing teeth and sometimes, the jaw bone may shrink as a result. The shrinkage of the jaw bone will negatively influence facial volume and facial expression. For enhanced health and aesthetics, we intend to offer a natural series of working teeth to all who desire it.

Crowns

Crowns can either be attached on a bridge on one or either sides of a tooth that is missing or permanently fixed by use of a dental implant. There are many different materials that are used to make crowns and they include the following:

  • Porcelain
  • Glass
  • Zirconium

Crowns are fashioned in a way that they completely resemble a natural tooth from their shapes to their colors. Also on offer are E-max crowns. Other than to replace missing teeth on the upper and lower jaws, crowns are also used to strengthen weak teeth.

Bridges

Bridges are made of a base of precious metal or other materials which are merged together with porcelain to secure tooth replacements. In cases where only a few teeth need replacing or there are gaps on a single side of the mouth, bridges are recommended to replace the missing teeth.

The Importance of Crown and Bridges

When tooth gaps are present in the mouth, the dental structure weakens considerably and this promotes even further loss of teeth and bone. Irritation of gum tissue also occur causing inflammation and other conditions like gingivitis. A well known cause of tooth decay is damage to the tooth with the end result being gum disease. Replacing such teeth with crowns and bridges will not only restore the teeth but will also improve the bite. Our dentists are trained to make teeth replacements appear natural and inconspicuous.
